Pakistan is currently facing one of the worst floods in the history of its state and hence severe devastation. According to Relief Commissioner of Punjab, Akhlaq Ahmed Tarar, the biggest flood of the past century is currently passing through the Indus River.
In 1901, 900,000 cusecs of water was seen at the source in the Indus River, but this year, 100,000 cusecs of water has broken the 100-year record of water level at this place.
Pakistan experienced major floods in the past in 1956, 1976, 1986 and 1992. Even during these floods, the maximum water level in the Indus River did not exceed 862,000 cusecs at Kala Bagh and 786,600 cusecs at Chashma. This year the flow of water at the Kala Bagh site exceeded 900,000 cusecs and one million cusecs at the spring.
This is being described as the most unusual flood in the history of Pakistan
As a result of these most unusual floods in the history of the state, Pakistan is witnessing extraordinary devastation. According to some reports, the initial estimate of the material losses caused by the recent floods is 150 billion rupees.
According to the Director General of Meteorological Department, Ajmal Shad, in the month of August, such heavy rains may occur unexpectedly in some areas of the country. The new series will begin, which will continue till August 5.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department has already predicted that the country will receive 15 to 20 percent more rain than normal during this year's monsoon.
